Rabbits

In 2021, Mississippi 4H piloted the Rabbit Project under the leadership of Cobie as a state 4H staff member. The goal of this project was to use rabbits as a gateway species to other species of livestock and to offer an alternative animal project that was affordable, easy to manage, and required little space. Our rabbit herd was started with foundation stock from Charm Farm Netherlands in Newcastle, Oklahoma with addition from P2 Rabbitry. The rabbits have provided Reason with opportunities to practice demonstration skills, public speaking, and showmanship. It has been amazing to watch his confidence skyrocket thanks to this program. We hope to continue helping other 4Hers by raising Netherland Dwarf rabbits.
