The history of Rutherford Hills Stock Farm goes well beyond the year of its inception, 2021. In fact, the foundation cow families that make up the herd in Walter, Alabama today includes many descendants of cows that both Cobie and Meghan exhibited in 4-H shows across the United States. As products of successful Angus operations, Rutherford Angus Farm and Hillcrest Cattle Farm, it made sense that the couple would build upon the groundwork laid by both families. At the inception of Rutherford Hills Stock Farm it was important to pay homage to and acknowledge both the Rutherford and Hill family for their influence in our operation.

Since 2021, we have had the opportunity to strategically purchase a few cattle whose breeding, genetics, and phenotypes align with our breeding goals. We are aggressively adding value to the cattle by AI breeding to the best bulls we can find and utilizing our donor cows in our ET program.

For the first 12 years following the marriage of Cobie and Meghan the cattle were marketed under the CMR brand. After the birth of Reason the couple saw an opportunity to diversify their livestock operation to include Australian Shepherds in 2018, club Lambs in 2021, and Netherland Dwarf rabbits in 2022.
